Average Construction Earnings rise by 6.1%.

Average earnings in the UK construction industry have grown by 6.1% to £634 gross per week in the year ending March 2016 (all occupations). Skill shortages in some trades have been reported, particularly bricklayers, carpenters and plasterers (Construction News (CN) 17.6.16, 32-33).

Average skilled labour prices increased to £174 per day in the UK (£190 per day in London) as at Q1 2016 (Arcadis Input Cost Index; CN 10.6.16, 34-35).

It remains to be seen what effect on pay and jobs the recently forecasted slowdown will have.
